Welcome to Fishin' With Paul

Fishing that's fun for all ages

Tucked in the Sierra Nevada, Shaver Lake is prized for feisty kokanee and trophy trout. Whether it's your first cast or your hundredth, you'll fish the lake's best water with someone who's known it for decades.

Kokanee, the landlocked cousin of the sockeye, run from early spring through late summer, and they fight hard and eat well. Add breathtaking mountain mornings and a private boat, and it's a day the whole family remembers.

  • Kokanee & trophy trout, plus king salmon at Pine Flat
  • Private charters for up to 5, never a shared boat

Seasons & what's biting

Paul follows the fish between two Sierra lakes, so there's good fishing in every season.

Shaver Lake

March – October

High in the Sierra at 5,400 ft, Shaver runs cool and clear all summer. Kokanee are the headline, feisty, bright, and delicious, alongside hard-fighting trophy trout.

Pine Flat Lake

November – February

When Shaver winters over, the action moves down to Pine Flat in the foothills. Cooler months bring trout up in the water column and a real shot at hard-charging king salmon.
